Today I started reading the book, 'The Crying of Lot 49', and for some reason I could not understand a single word I read. It was as if I were learning a new language, trying to read a book from that language. But maybe its because this book is from another world, which I don't read to much on, the satirical world. Things such as, "three generations of smokers", hanging up on people, booze, and the second world war, confused me so much. The change of topic seemed to be in every single sentence, but the change of topic was so smooth that you did not notice the change until you were halfway through the next sentence.
The name of the character, 'Oedipa' is interesting. I don't think I know that many names that have more vowels than consonants in it. At least not well known names such as, 'Charles', 'Stephanie', 'Bob', 'Michael' etc...Well, I think I will go re read that chapter, and give you a proper view of it. Or you may just have to read a blog about my thoughts on chapter two.
